How to beat that "Case of the Mondays"

Obviously, Office Space is one of my all-time favorite movies (seriously, go watch it), and personally, I feel the line "Looks like somebody has a case of the Mondays", is absolutely hilarious. I have meet so many people in my life who just can not seem to get over their "case of the Mondays", week after week they find themselves miserable for an entire day! Here are a few great ways to beat those Monday blues and make, at least fifth of your work week,
a little better!

1. Prep for Monday on Friday! - Many of us are so excited to leave work on Friday, that we count the moments until we can check out and begin our weekend that we forget about our TPS reports!! Even without a memo its highly recommend to not postpone tasks and ensure that these difficult task are being completed before leaving on Friday afternoon. Forgetting or leaving challenging work unfinished will simply make for a more anxious start on Monday

2. Unplug for the Weekend as Much as Possible - We all have work responsibilities and we all have an innate desire to know what we have waiting for us this coming week. Checking your work email, answering calls, listening to your voice mails, during your days off can be very tempting. In reality not unplugging only makes Monday’s more frustrating. We all need time to kick back, relax and enjoy the finer things in life that are constantly nagging us.

3. Have fun at work - Okay, so cleaning a fresh caught bass at your desk might be the dream way to have fun at work, I wouldn't recommend it! Your co-workers probably won't thank you. What I would recommend is doing something that will bring a bit of a smile to your face and to the faces of your coworkers. Simple acts of kindness or small office pranks, can distract you from your distaste and make another persons day. So have some fun, bring some donuts to work, cover a coworkers monitor with positive sticky notes, celebrate success with a fist bump, and make every day Hawaiian shirt day!

4. Get enough Sleep - This seems like common sense, but many people run on only a few hours of sleep on Mondays. Those late night Kung-Fu marathons on Netflix can really cut into your night! But seriously, getting plenty of rest, waking up a few minutes early, and having a great breakfast can make that Monday rush a lot easier to cope with.

5. Keep your Monday Schedule light - Knowing that Mondays are typically busy days, with new tasks popping up and other business demands, try to keep meetings and challenging tasks scheduled for the middle of the week. This will allow you to get going on Monday and tackle any issues you were not anticipating. But beware, too much free time, might leave you feeling blue and bored.

Finally, treat yo' self! - If you know Monday is going to be your least favorite day, find a way to make it enjoyable. Designate it as the day you go out to lunch, eat outside, listen to some music at your desk. At the end of the day your mind set is what makes you. If you go into Monday knowing it is going to be a horrible day, chances are it will be.
